My name is Brian Potts, and I was born and raised right here in the Milky Way Galaxy, on a pale blue dot called Earth. More specifically, I am from a small town called Gainesville, which sits right in between rural and urban Northern Virginia. Since I was a child, I have always had an everlasting itch to learn about the unknown – things that are big and small, simple and complex, beautiful and terrifying, and everything in between. It was this natural curiosity that really gravitated me towards the John C. Wells Planetarium. It has the incredible power to fully immerse its audiences and suck them into an environment that’s completely absorbing. As humans, we have an intrinsic desire to dream and lose ourselves in imagination, and the Planetarium allows anyone to do so. It creates a cosmic-awe - that voice that whispers “wow” in the back of your head. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to be inspired by the Planetarium and its staff, and hope I can inspire others in return. Apart from work/school, I am an avid reader, a soccer player, and a technology enthusiast. I enjoy sitting on roof tops, going to concerts, drinking coffee, and cooking. I always learn from my mistakes, but I am always willing to make more. At any place, during any moment in time, I hope to be making some form of impact in someone’s life, no matter how big or small. That’s me in a nutshell!
