Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) is a one-day math and science conference for girls in grades 6-8. The girls participate in exciting, hands-on workshops organized by JMU faculty, attend science presentations and demonstrations, and interact with JMU students who are studying math and science. Parents and teachers are invited to attend EYH with their students.  We plan to offer adult workshops again this year.  Parents and teachers are also welcome to accompany their students to all of their activities.

All participants will receive breakfast and lunch.  There is no registration fee, but all students and accompanying adults and teachers must pre-register.  We thank our generous sponsors for enabling us to offer EYH to participants free of charge again this year.

Mission Statement: Expanding Your Horizons at James Madison University engages young women in high-quality hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities and small-group interactions with female scientist role models to foster and support the young women’s interest in STEM fields, to increase their awareness of opportunities in STEM-related careers, and to empower them to see themselves as future participants in these fields and careers.

Dear Students, Parents, Teachers, Faculty and Volunteers,

We are very sorry to announce that EYH 2020 has been cancelled. Because of the time, space and resources needed to plan and run a conference like EYH, we will not be able to reschedule it this year.

All of us involved in the EYH Leadership team would like to thank you for your support, time and effort to help make EYH the successful community event that it has become over the last 12 years. We look forward to holding the event next March.
