Graduate Assistant

Originally from Mississippi, I moved to Virginia in 2009 to pursue a law degree from Washington & Lee University after graduating from Samford University with an undergraduate degree in History. After law school, I worked in Alumni Relations at Vanderbilt University, before returning to Virginia where I practiced family law in Charlottesville and Staunton for seven years.

In the fall of 2019, I decided to take my career in a new direction by enrolling in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at JMU.  With an MPA, I hope to apply the skills I gained in legal practice to a career in public service.

At the beginning of my first semester as an MPA student, I joined PCE as a Graduate Assistant for Economic & Community Development working with Dr. Nicholas Swartz.  The best part of my job is working with passionate, creative people to develop new programs and initiatives that promote community engagement.

When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Ross, and our two Labradoodles, Zeke and Hope.
