The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) moved into Outreach & Engagement in July 2014 from the Department of Social Work where it was founded in 1996. I have been involved since the beginning facilitating courses and then as the director shortly thereafter. Originally from North Carolina - but a resident of the Valley for 30 years now - I went to school at East Carolina University for my bachelor's and master's degree in Adult Learning. I enjoy working with the adults who come to LLI. Their life experiences help make the classes even more interesting and as volunteers, their skills keep this organization running. As director, there are a lot of different hats to wear: administration, marketing, volunteer coordinator, and research; but mostly I facilitate the volunteer committee's efforts to be a member-driven organization. I appreciate being a part of something that brings value to people's lives and makes many lives better.
