Ryan is a graduate student studying strategic communication in the M.A. Communication & Advocacy program. A soon-to-be Double Duke, he graduated from JMU with honors in 2017 with a B.A. in Media Arts & Design concentrating in Integrated Advertising & Corporate Communication and a minor in Communication Studies.

As the Graduate Assistant for Community Building within Off-Campus Life, Ryan’s primary focus areas are commuter appreciation events and resources, roommate connections, and “good neighbors” initiatives.

Before entering grad school full-time, Ryan worked in University Advancement from August 2018-December 2021, first as the Office Manager for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, then as the Alumni Relations Coordinator overseeing student engagement events and programming and co-advising the JMUAA Student Committee.

He’s always had a passion for event planning, from his summers as a Conference Coordinator with JMU Conference Services to his work as the coordinator for JMU A Cappella leading the executive board of presidents and music directors for all nine on-campus groups. Some of his favorite JMU memories come from his time as a peer tutor and Media Fellow in the Digital Communication Consulting Center and from studying abroad with the Summer in London program through the Center for Global Engagement.
