Students who are found responsible for alleged violation(s) of university policy during the Accountability ProcessSexual Misconduct Accountability Process, or Title IX Sexual Harassment Adjudication Process may be required to complete one or multiple sanctions. After a final decision is rendered for a case, OSARP sends information about the final decision and any applicable sanctions to the student’s JMU email address. Please refer to that email for additional instructions regarding sanction completion.

The JMU Honor Council can also sanction students to complete the Values in Action Workshop as an outcome of an Honor Code violation.

Not completing a sanction by the given deadline (including following all expectations and directions) may result in an alleged violation of Failure to Comply with a Disciplinary Decision.

To support social distancing guidelines as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, By the Numbers will be facilitated in an online environment. Refer to the email sent from OSARP-Programs@jmu.edu for more information and your deadline for completion.

In order to be marked as having attended and completed this program, you must submit the Virtual Workbook. Once submitted, it will be read by an OSARP staff member for completeness. After their review, they will contact you via JMU email to let you know if your sanction is complete or if you need to revise your answers. This workshop should take roughly two hours to complete; we recommend that you complete the class all at once.

Stop the Spread Community Impact Reflection

Email your completed Stop the Spread Community Impact Reflection Workbook by the given deadline to osarp-educationalprograms@jmu.edu with the subject line “Stop the Spread Workbook.” Once submitted, your Workbook will be read by an OSARP staff member for completeness. After their review, they will contact you via email to let you know if your sanction is complete or if you need to revise your answers. Failure to submit your Workbook by the given deadline or failure to revise your answers by the given deadline may result in an alleged policy violation of Failure to Comply with a Disciplinary Decision.

Mentor Experience

Mentee Expectations

  • Make contact with you mentor within 24 hours of your intake meeting via the email address provided at the intake meeting.
  • Spend at least one hour with your mentor each week.
  • Provide your mentor advance notice of any need to cancel for legitimate reasons.
  • Complete all assignments required by your mentor.
  • Keep track of the number of hours you have spent with your mentor (they will do the same).
  • Complete an online assessment three times: before beginning the program, immediately after completing the program, and one month after completing the program.

The following must be submitted through email before you attend your exit meeting. Instructions for these activities are included in your Mentee Packet and are linked below:

  • Personal Mission Statement
  • Set of Goals with Action Steps
  • Reflection Paper

Exit Interview

Contact our office after completion of your hours to schedule an exit interview with your coordinator.

Restorative Practices

Use the Restorative Practices email address above to submit your item(s) to the Restorative Practices staff. Submissions may include reflection papers or apology letters resulting from a restorative process or intake meeting. Follow the guidelines provided to you by the staff to make sure your submission meets the stated requirements. Failure to schedule, attend, or tardiness to sanctions, failing to complete related assignments, or failing to follow the guidelines of sanctions may result in an alleged policy violation of Failure to Comply with a Disciplinary Decision.
