Carolyn Miesen

Carolyn assists in developing assessment practice for Orientation's programming. She reports to the Director of Orientation, but works closely with other departmental staff that oversee assessment plans. Additionally, she provides support to programmatic functions throughout the year. Carolyn received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Roanoke College. At JMU, she's working on her Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a Quantitative Psychology concentration. Carolyn enjoys a variety of hobbies including hiking, reading, and photography.

Matt Olmsted

Matt is responsible for coordinating and supervising the transfer team and co-facilitating training for Transfer Summer Springboard. He also assists with the logistics of Transfer Summer Springboard, First Year Summer Springboard and serves as the primary contact for the OPAs for 1787 August Orientation tasks that need to be completed during the summer. Matt received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Stockton University and is currently completing his Masters in the College Student Personnel Administration program here at JMU. In his free time, Matt likes to hang out at the beach, run or hike and hang out and play with his puppy!

Elizabeth Szewczyk

Elizabeth is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the training for the Orientation Peer Advisers. She helps to supervise and support the OPAs throughout training and the First-Year Summer Springboard. She also assists with the managing of Transfer Summer Springboard and First-Year Summer Springboard. Elizabeth graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in History. She is a graduate student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program at the University of South Carolina. Elizabeth enjoys reading, painting and spending time with family and friends in South Carolina and California.
