2018 Transfer Orientation Peer Adviser (TOPA) Information

The Orientation Office invites applicants for the Transfer Orientation Peer Adviser (TOPA) position. TOPAs are a diverse group of undergraduate students who have transferred to JMU and play a critical role in the success of JMU’s transfer orientation programs. These programs prepare students to be active and authentic participants in the James Madison University learning experience. TOPAs do this by being a mentor and role model and providing direction and support to new transfer students and their families. They represent JMU through professional and competent behavior while accurately depicting life as a student of James Madison University.

We strongly encourage current students who have transferred to JMU of all backgrounds, majors, involvement, and interests to apply. As a TOPA, you will enhance your leadership skills, develop a deeper connection to campus and enhance your communication and customer service skills, all while providing support to transfer students in their transition to James Madison University. A portion of this year's application is turned in online and other portions must be turned in by the applicant to the Orientation Office in SSC 2200 (across from the Bistro) no later than Tuesday, January 9, 2018 by 5:00 p.m. If you want more information about the TOPA position, please attend one of the following information sessions.
