Accessible Parking for Disability Awareness Week 2017 Events

            This article highlights the locations of accessible parking for each Disability Awareness Week event. Please call our office if you find yourself in need of more information. The JMU campus map shows parking lot and building locations.

Monday 03/27:

Office of Disability Services Open House from 11:30-1:30 PM:

This event takes place inside the JMU Student Success Center on the first floor. The closest handicap parking is located in Lot B or Lot A.

Keynote Speaker Ken Rutherford from 7:00-8:30 PM:           

This event takes place in Wilson Hall and the closest accessible parking is Lot A.

From Port Republic Road:  At the intersection of Port Rd. and Main Street take a right onto north Main Street.    At the next light take a right onto Bluestone Drive.  There will be a purple gate ahead.  If the gate is closed push the red button and let the attendant know that you are needing handicapped/accessible parking for the DAW Keynote.  After the gate, go up and turn left on Madison Drive into Parking Lot A (close to Wilson Hall).  You must have your Handicap Placard visible.

From South Main Street:  Head north on Main Street towards JMU.  You will cross over the intersection of Port Road and Main Street.  At the next light take a right onto Bluestone Drive.  There will be a purple gate ahead.  If the gate is closed push the red button and let the attendant know that you are needing handicapped/accessible parking for the DAW Keynote.  After the gate, go up and turn left on Madison Drive into Parking Lot A (close to Wilson Hall).  You must have your Handicap Placard visible.

From Downtown Harrisonburg:  Head south on Main Street towards JMU.  You will pass the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts on your right.  Turn left at the light of Bluestone Drive and Warsaw Avenue take onto Bluestone Drive.  There will be a purple gate ahead.  If the gate is closed push the red button and let the attendant know that you are needing handicapped/accessible parking for the DAW Keynote.  After the gate, go up and turn left on Madison Drive into Parking Lot A (close to Wilson Hall).  You must have your Handicap Placard visible.

Path from Lot A to Wilson Auditorium:  From Lot A, pass Wilson Hall on your left.  You will see a small, blue Handicap Accessible sign ahead.  Turn left after the blue sign, between Wilson Hall and Keezell Hall.  Proceed straight through the door and turn left to enter Wilson Hall.  The auditorium will be on the first floor to your left.

Tuesday 03/28:

Disabled Sports Showcase from 5:00-6:30 PM:

This even takes place in the University Recreation Center (UREC) and the closest accessible parking is in Lot D8.

Film viewing from 7:00-8:30 PM:

This event takes place in Grafton-Stovall Theater and the closest accessible parking is in Lot E.  

Wednesday 03/29:

Cooking with Chef Rob from 3:00-4:30 PM:

This event takes place in E-Hall and the closest accessible parking is in Lot D3 or C12.

D.E.E.P. Impact Dialogue from 7:00-9:30 PM:

This event takes place in the Student Success Center in Room 1075 and the closest accessible parking is in Lot B.

Thursday 03/30:

Self-Care Workshop from 3:00-4:00 PM:

This event takes place in the Student Success Center in Room 1075 and the closest accessible parking is in Lot B. 

 

Friday 03/31:

Creating Accessible Media through Microsoft Office from 9:00-11:00 AM:

This event takes place in JMAC 4 in Room 111 and the closest accessible parking is in Lot Q North or Q East.

Wheelchair Basketball from 12:00-1:00 PM:

This event takes place in the University Recreation Center and the closest accessible parking is in Lot D8.
