Freshman Parking Permits

Spring 2021 parking permits will be available for purchase by first-year residents, on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning January 20, 2021. This option is being made available for the Spring 2021 semester only, as an exception to the regulation normally disallowing freshmen from parking vehicles on campus. The cost of a Spring 2021 semester permit will be $113.00.

Freshman permits issued for the Spring 2021 semester will allow freshmen to park in the following lots only

  • R1 Lot – located adjacent to the Village and D-Hub
  • C4 Lot – located adjacent to the Hillside, McGraw-Long and Bell residence halls
  • R2 Lot – located behind the Madison Square shopping center near Eagle and Shorts Halls, accessed from Port Republic Road
  • R10 Lot – located across from the University Outpost, accessed from Hunters Road
  • C17 and C18 Lots – located at the corner of South Main Street and Port Republic Road, near the Quad
  • Convo A Lot – located at the Convocation Center near Jennings Hall, accessed from University Blvd.

Freshman vehicles parked in any other campus parking facilities will be subject to citation. Always be sure to check the signs located at parking lot entrances to make certain you are in the correct lot, or contact Parking Services with any questions.

How to Purchase a Permit

Beginning January 20, you may purchase your Spring 2021 parking permit quickly and conveniently online at www.jmu.edu/parking. If you purchase your permit online between January 20 and January 31, it will be mailed to your local address (campus mailbox).

To ensure that your parking permit is mailed to the correct address when purchasing online, please verify that your local mailing address is correct prior to purchase by logging on to MyMadison  (mymadison.jmu.edu) and choosing the “Student Center” option under the Student tab. Be sure that the address is current and is a valid mailing address to avoid delays in receiving your parking permit.

Due to our ongoing efforts to promote social distancing, Parking Services strongly encourages customers to use the local delivery option. Occupancy in the Parking Services lobby will be strictly limited, and customers purchasing or picking up permits in person should anticipate delays.

Please contact Parking Services at 540-568-3300 or parkingservices@jmu.edu if you have any questions. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
