Dr. Kristen St. John (Dept. of Geology & Environmental Science) was a featured speaker at the American Geophysical Union's Centennial Conference in San Francisco last week.  The Centennial Conference agenda focused on the major challenges of this century—including feeding a growing population, dealing with climate change, sustaining ecosystems, managing a major energy transition, predicting and mitigating natural disasters, and more.  Dr. St. John spoke to "The Future of Geoscience Education Research" in the Centennial Plenary, which featured a series of 4-minute talks exploring some of these major challenges.  The American Geophysical Union recognizes that these challenges are deeply connected to the Earth and space sciences and seeks opportunities to engage the public, the private sector, governments, and society for the benefit of humanity.
