Printer Toner Scam
Many departments on campus have reported a toner scam. Departments have received phone calls where callers have identified themselves as being an individual on campus requesting printer model numbers or offering toner for printers or copiers. Toner is shipped to the individual on campus and charged at prices up to three times the typical amount.
JMU has experienced these types of calls in the past. Please use caution when giving information over the phone, especially if the vendor contacts you. Also, please remember that if you lease your copier or printer, toner is more than likely part of the lease agreement and is not a separate charge.
If you have questions, please call Procurement Services at 8-3145 or our eVA help line at 8-4382.
