CISR Remembers Dr. Ronald Carrier, JMU's Fourth President

Today we, along with the JMU community, mourn the loss of Dr. Ronald E. Carrier and send our condolences to the Carrier family. Dr. Carrier was instrumental in the origination of CISR and a major advocate over the years for our humanitarian efforts in post-conflict recovery.

“Dr. Carrier was the strategic visionary for today’s CISR, which succeeded with the hard work of many staff, including its founding director Col. Dennis Barlow, who worked hand in hand with him. One year after its founding, the U.S. Department of Defense granted an official charter for a 'Center of Excellence,' further clarifying CISR’s function as an important contributor to global conventional weapons destruction and signaling CISR as one of Dr. Carrier’s most positive legacies.” – Dr. Ken Rutherford, CISR director
