JMU Students, Staff, and Community

Because of Exams, the Men's Basketball Game, the JMU Football Playoff Game and other events scheduled on campus for Saturday, December 6, 2008, traffic congestion on and around campus is anticipated to be extremely heavy throughout the day. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, to expect high volumes of pedestrian traffic, to allow extra time to get to and from your destination and to anticipate traffic flow delays. Pedestrians should exercise caution when navigating around vehicles in parking lots and are encouraged to utilize designated crosswalks and crossing signals to safely cross streets. Bicyclists are reminded that pedestrians have the right of way on sidewalks and that when operating on roadways they must obey all traffic laws.

All parking lots on campus will be reserved by special permit only for the different events. Regular Football Game Day lots will open to football permit holders at 8:00 AM as usual. The only General Parking available on Campus will be in the Warsaw Parking Deck located just across from the South Main Street Entrance to West Campus on Warsaw St. or in the C12 Parking Lot located off of Reservoir Street near the Soccer Fields and across from the Festival Conference Center on the East Campus. The C10 Parking Lot located across from the East Campus Library will be specifically reserved for students taking exams. These lots should be accessed from the Reservoir Street/Evelyn Byrd Avenue Entrance and not by attempting to drive through campus. See the following link for parking lot designations: http://web.jmu.edu/parking/parkingmap2008.pdf

Harrisonburg Department of Public Transit will be providing Special Exam Day - Game Day Bus services from the off-campus student housing complexes to campus throughout the day but will only be utilizing the Festival Bus Stop on East Campus and the Miller Bus Stop on West Campus. City Transit Buses will not be servicing any other on-campus bus stops! Please visit the HDPT web site for specific bus schedules and routes for this date: www.hdpt.com

JMU Shuttle Buses will still be running a loop route on-campus between the CISAT HHS Bus Stop, the Festival Bus Stop, and the Godwin Bus Stop beginning at 8:00 AM and will run until an hour after the football game ends Saturday evening.
