Research Description

Dr. Lovin explores ways to incorporate research-based frameworks about how students learn mathematics into classroom instruction. Recently, she has been investigating the use of a fractions learning trajectory to assess students’ fraction understanding. She has also helped design instructional interventions to support students’ learning of fractions, and has published articles on this work in the Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education and through PME-NA. She also co-authored the Teaching Student-Centered Mathematics Professional Development Series as well as Teaching Mathematics Meaningfully: Solutions for Reaching Struggling Learners.
