Upcoming changes from the Department of Labor (DOL) about Overtime

Recently, the Department of Labor released new guidelines in the Fair Labor Standards Act regarding overtime eligibility. These changes will be effective on December 1, 2016 and will effect some JMU employees.

The Fair Labor Standards Act, more commonly known as the FLSA, is a federal wage and hour law which establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time employees in the private sector and in Federal, State, and local governments. Compliance with the FLSA is enforced by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Please visit the JMU HR Consulting Services website for more information about the FLSA changes including FAQs for both supervisors and employees.

For additional questions, please contact your HR Consultant or call Human Resources at 540/568-7247.
