Human Resources thanks you for the opportunity to serve you throughout the past year.  As you share this holiday season with family, friends and loved-ones, we wish you a very happy New Year filled with success.

Due to a high number of graduates, the commencement ceremony this Saturday, December 19 at 10 a.m. will be a ticketed event. Please visit https://www.jmu.edu/commencement/ for ticket information.

End of the Year Leave Reminder for Classified Employees

The university’s winter holiday break begins at noon on Tuesday, December 22. As we approach the holiday season, please keep in mind that in accordance with Department of Human Resource Management Policy 4.25-Holidays, classified employees must either work on, or be on paid leave, the workday before and the workday after the holiday in order to be paid for holiday time.

Classified employees should review their current vacation balance with their supervisor and plan to use vacation hours that will exceed their maximum carry-over limit. Excess vacation hours and the 2015 Personal Day (taken in its full eight-hour increment) must be used on or by January 9, 2016 with the exception of the vacation hours accrued on January 9 for the final pay period (12/25/15 through 1/9/16). These hours will be credited and available for use January 10, 2016, the beginning of the new leave year.

New Student and Wage Employee Timesheet Effective January 1, 2016

The Division of Administration and Finance has developed a new Student and Wage Employee Timesheet which will help calculate overtime and alleviate concerns raised by auditors about inaccurate calculations.

If you are a supervisor of an hourly employee, you must ensure the new timesheet is being used effective 1/1/16. If you are an authorized time enterer or approver for your department, you must ensure that all supervisors are using and approving the new 2016 Student and Wage Timesheet, effective 1/1/16, for time entry.

Please contact Payroll Services at payroll-operations@jmu.edu or Jessica Hensley at 540/568-6233 if you have questions after reviewing Payroll’s PowerPoint presentation and the new timesheet at http://www.jmu.edu/financeoffice/accounting-operations-disbursements/payroll/index.shtml.
