Joanne V. Gabbin Scholarship
Scholarship Overview
The Joanne V. Gabbin scholarship was established to honor the 19 years of service by Dr. Joanne Gabbin to the Honors Program (now the Honors College). During Dr. Gabbin's tenure as director of the Honors College, from 1986 to 2005, she oversaw an expansion in the program in terms of its number of students, parrticipating faculty, programs, and endowments. She created numerous programs such as the Brown Bag lunch talks, the Honors Symposium (which still occurs annually), Honors Nigh at the Blackfriars, the Honors Opportunity Program, the Honors Learning Community (Shenandoah Hall, still used today), as well as many other events and programs.
These scholarships will be awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student who demonstrates financial need and is in good standing with the Honors College.
