2018 Commencement Medallion Ceremony

Festival Highlands Room

The Honors College would like to invite all graduating seniors and their family to attend a Medallion Ceremony and Reception. The student speaker will be Tricey Splan ('18) an English major and Vice President of the Madison Honors Leadership Council.

Doors to the Festival Highlands Room will open at 11:30 am. Seating is first come first serve. A buffet lunch will be held immediately following the ceremony where you may visit with Dean Newcomer, Associate Dean Frana, Mr. Jared Diener, Academic Advisor, Mr. Kurt Davies, Director of Prestigous Scholarships and special guests. This event is by invitation only; RSVP deadline is Friday, November 30. Thank you!


Program Details

Tricey Splan

Student Speaker: Ms. Patrice (Tricey) Splan ('19)

Patrice Splan is a senior at James Madison University majoring in English and minoring in Secondary Education. She has been an active member of the Honors College since her freshman year and is currently serving as the Vice President of the Madison Honors Leadership Council. In addition to her involvement in Honors, Patrice enjoys working with JMU's Best Buddies chapter, and spending time in downtown Harrisonburg trying as many restaurants as she can before she graduates in May of 2019.    After graduation, Patrice is looking forward to reading many different books with many different students as a high school English teacher in her hometown of Arlington, VA. 

Program Timeline

11:30 am - Doors Open

12:00 - 12:30 pm - Medallion Ceremony

12:30 - 2:00 pm - Buffet Lunch

Immediately following our cermeony all graduates and their families are invited to attend a buffet lunch with the Honors College Dean, Associate Dean and team members. Registration is recommended by each student (for their family) including details of dietary restrictions. Registration deadline is Friday, November 30.

Parking/Shuttle Service

Parking is available in Lots C11 and C12. Visit the JMU Commencement website for additional details. 


If you or a loved on are in need of accessible services (ASL Interpreter, accessible seating, etc.) please contact the Honors College team at your earliest convenience. Accessible seating will be available in the front of the ballroom. Please see a volunteer usher when you arrive should your family member need this assistance.
