Summer Orientation

MADISON HALL, First Floor 

Although the orientation is not mandatory, you are strongly encouraged to attend. All of the sessions offered during orientation are optional, so you have the opportunity to attend whichever sessions will be most relevant and helpful to you. You are encouraged to participate in the entire orientation, and yet you are free to attend relevant sessions based on your own availability and time constraints. 

There is no charge to attend the orientation, however we do ask that you register so that we have an accurate account of attendance.

Summer orientation will be held in Madison Hall, the first floor. -  JMU Campus Map, North Campus

We plan to live stream the events located in room 1002, however the ability to participate in the orientation electronically will be limited.

Location and Parking

Parking - 

The closest Commuter Student parking is the Mason Street Parking Deck. It connects with Madison Hall via a walkway. The Warsaw Avenue deck and lot C4 are the next closest commuter parking areas.  - Campus Parking Map  

For the May 30 orientation, please park in levels 3 through 5 of the Mason Street Parking Deck. You will not need a parking permit the morning of orientation.  If you have a parking permit, park in appropriate designated parking areas to avoid receiving a citation. 

You will need to obtain your campus parking pass from Parking Services prior to parking in designated commuter spots on campus, or risk receiving a ticket. Visit parking services ( for information on purchasing your parking pass online, fees, and parking areas. You may also visit the Parking Services office, located in the Champions Drive Parking Deck, in person.
