As Interim Executive Director of the Center for Global Engagement (CGE), Professor Dietrich Maune leads our campus-wide efforts to internationalize University curricula, services and programs, and coordinates global and international activities across JMU and our seven colleges. Mr. Maune is responsible for administering CGE programs, including study and service abroad, international student and scholar support and immigration services, as well as our work to develop new international opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff to learn about and pursue global education, scholarship, and partnerships. Professor Maune is also responsible for the promotion of JMU and its distinctive national profile for global education, scholarship and service to all of our stakeholders, global partners and organizations.

Mr. Maune holds a BFA and MFA in Fine Arts from East Carolina University. His 26 years of experience in higher education includes many faculty and leadership positions. Since arriving at JMU in the fall of 2000 as professor in the School of Media Arts and Design, he has held leadership positions including assistant director in Media Arts and Design, and associate dean in the College of Arts and Letters. He has served as Director of the JMU Semester in London program since 2014.
