Why did you choose JMU?

I chose JMU because I felt like this is the school that would help me succeed and provide me with lots of opportunities for me to develop myself and my future. Moreover, I wanted to explore something new that I had not heard too much, I had never heard of JMU when I was in High School. I had only heard of UVA, VT, GMU, etc. I looked up US colleges in Virginia  on “Niche” and found out that this was not a bad school … well actually, it’s a great school! So far, I know I have made the right decision and I feel joyful studying here.

What do you like best about JMU?

Student life is what I like best about JMU right now. I can assure you that there will be nowhere else to have a better student life. I got a chance to experience everything that can make me happy and feel motivated at JMU. In addition, if you can make friends here, you will have memorable weekends as long as you study.

What surprised you the most during your first semester?

People here are so friendly, I did not expect that I would make friends that fast in my first semester at JMU. At first, I thought college life, especially JMU life would be boring because it’s not located in a big town and therefore not find good entertaining places but I was wrong. People here are very opened and I got chances to find out this great place for me to study and relax with my friends.

What is your favorite class?

I have not had any class that I consider my favorite yet. Everything has been hard for me because my major is CIS and classes are tough but at some point, I will find an interesting class that I would take and turn that into my favorite. I hope I will find it soon!

What do you like to do during your free time?

UREC or the University Recreation Center is the place on campus where you can hang out with your friends by working out, playing indoor sports or even get a massage, or hang out in the sauna. I usually go there to do physical activities. In my opinion, UREC is the best place on campus. Once you are on campus go check it out!
