Colleges and universities across the country are having to make tough decisions in the midst of the pandemic.  JMU leaders are facing complex and quickly evolving circumstances as they try to ensure students have the meaningful Madison Experience we all know and love while making health and personal safety a priority.

GIVE NOW

The university returns to a mix of in-person, hybrid and online learning on October 5. During the pause of in-person instruction, we have made extensive operational enhancements to safely bring students back on campus, including:

  • Launching a surveillance testing program
  • Temporary increase in University Health Center staff
  • More than quadrupling our quarantine and isolation space
  • Capping capacity for all classroom spaces at 50 people
  • Providing more guidance for on-campus meetings and events
  • Requiring students to show their LiveSafe Green Check to enter facilities
  • Adjusting operations in dining facilities
  • Canceling fall break
  • Switching to virtual learning after Thanksgiving, while allowing students to remain on campus through the end of the semester if they choose.

Please consider supporting the University Health Center, equipping the staff to move nimbly to address the range of anticipated and unanticipated needs and additional costs incurred resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we will ensure our students receive the richest Madison Experience possible despite the uncertainty of these times.
