Use clips or the entire series to learn about and teach Black poetry: the series includes readings, critical reviews, presentations, panel discussions, interviews, and dialogues between poets.

Available from most university libraries, the Furious Flower streaming videos provide an unprecedented opportunity to watch leading African American poets read from their work and discuss the critical issues shaping this vibrant poetic tradition. It represents nearly 100 years of artistic expression, covering the Harlem Renaissance to the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s as well as modern poetry, contemporary hip hop, and other forms of spoken word.
