Experience an evening of chamber music featuring the horn in an eclectic assortment of instrumental pairings! The concert will begin with an unaccompanied selection and will continue to add instrumental parts throughout the program featuring duo, trio, quartet, and finally, quintet. Joining in the concert will be several additional instrumentalists, including JMU music faculty members Sue Barber (bassoon), Casey Cangelosi (percussion), Beth Chandler (flute), Carl Donakowski (violincello), Sarunas Jankauskas (clarinet), David Pope (saxophone) and Sam Suggs (double bass), as well as Nicole Pagliolonga (violin) from Virginia Tech.

Ian Zook is an active orchestral and solo performer, and has appeared in concerts throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He joined the faculty of James Madison University in 2009, and performs frequently with the Madison Brass and Montpelier Winds, both faculty ensembles in-residence at JMU.

As soloist, he has performed with numerous ensembles including the JMU Brass Band at the Kennedy Center, the JMU Wind Symphony, JMU Percussion Ensemble, the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Baroque Consort, and the Chamber Orchestra of Charlottesville.

He is also a frequent substitute musician with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Roanoke, Richmond and Harrisburg Symphonies. He holds degrees from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and the University of Michigan, and has performed at the Verbier, Pacific, Sarasota, AIMS in Graz, Staunton and Aspen Music Festivals, and the National Orchestral Institute.
