Stephanie Nakasian & Veronica Swift, mother and daughter jazz vocalists

with The Bob Hallahan Trio

Friday, January 13 @ 8 pm

Stephanie Nakasian & Veronica Swift will take the stage for an evening of multi-generational vocal jazz delight! A versatile and swinging vocal virtuoso, Nakasian performed around the world for more than 30 years with husband Hod O’Brien, the veteran be-bop pianist who passed away in late 2016. They also performed frequently with daughter Veronica Swift as The Family O’Brien.

Nakasian toured with vocal jazz icon Jon Hendricks in the mid-80s, eventually issuing 12 recordings under her own name and singing with the likes of Pat Metheny and Bobby McFerrin. Swift recorded her first CD with her parents at the age of 9, and went on to win second place in the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition in 2015. Accompanying the vocal duo will be a trio led by JMU professor Bob Hallahan.  |
