Green Dot: A Comprehensive Approach to Violence Prevention (TD2427)

Description: We know that far too many students experience sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking during their time in college. To begin to change that, we all have to play a role in prevention. This session will focus on the vital role campus employees play in establishing and reinforcing the culture within which students exist. Participants will leave with an expanded definition of “bystander” and equipped to integrate key behaviors within their current job functions to establish two norms for prevention: (1) power-based personal violence is not tolerated in our community, and (2) everyone must do their part to keep the campus free from violence and fear of violence.
After this workshop participants will:
- Understand key components of the Green Dot strategy
- Understand the dynamics of culture change
- Feel empowered and equipped to be a part of meaningful culture change on campus as it pertains to dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking
- Have the knowledge and tools they need to contribute to positive norms pertaining to power-based personal violence
- Have the knowledge and tools they need to support students and colleagues in making positive contributions to campus safety
