Leadership Lab: Turning Supervisors in Leaders (TD2331)

Fri, 25 Oct 2019 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: Wine-Price Building

Session: 6 of 8

Session Description: Beyond My Job and Brainstorming

The Leadership Lab provides information and practice in key areas of leadership at JMU.

This session has participants consider "why" they do what they do at JMU, and asks them to map their work unit as it "fits" within the larger context of JMU so that they know all key stakeholders of the university. Small teams will identify a "real" JMU problem and brainstorm solutions individually and then as a team. Journaling will be about the diversity and connectedness of work at JMU.

Specific learning objectives are:

  • consider the What/How/Why model (Simon Sinek)
  • identify top leaders at JMU and their units
  • brainstorm potential solutions to a problem

Facilitated by: Jennifer Campfield, Director of Talent Development and Gail Napora, Professional Development Specialist, Talent Development
