Planetarium OPENS Saturday, Sept 5!

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 11:00 AM - Sat, 19 Sep 2015 3:30 PM

The John C. Wells Planetarium's FREE Saturday shows resume on Saturday, September 5! Ccome see "MAGIC TREE HOUSE: SPACE MISSION" at 11am and 1pm, or "DYNAMIC EARTH" at 2:15pm and 3:30pm. Our 11am and 1pm shows are our family shows -- suited for families with young children. Our 2:15pm and 3:30pm shows are our feature shows. Perfect for older students and adults alike. FREE!

Come see a full dome show at our state-of-the-art, hybrid planetarium. After every show, we raise our Goto Chronus starball and highlight the Valley sky. We'll discuss and show where you can find prominent stars, constellations and planets visible in your backyard sky at this time of the year.

On Saturdays where the Sun is out, head to the JMU Sundial (just past the courtyard where the Planetarium is located) to look through our solar telescope. You will see our Sun as the active, dynamic star that it is rather then the pale, yellow dot drawn by school children. This is a SAFE way to see our star!
