About lunch: Area restaurants donate lunch, and we make PB&J sandwiches each day; a complete list of lunch offerings will be listed on this website prior to the first day of camp. If your child has food sensitivities that will prevent them from eating what we can provide, please be sure to pack a lunch.

Our discipline policy: We believe that children learn best when they have the respect of others and the freedom to express themselves. With this in mind, we are committed to non-violence in word and action among both the children and adults. Hazing, bullying, and criminal acts are not tolerated. Minor behavioral issues will be dealt with on an individual basis; these are usually resolved, but if a child shows that he or she cannot participate without significantly disrupting the experience of others, a parent, guardian, or other authorized adult will be contacted to take the child home.

In case of emergency: If you need to reach us during the week of camp, please call the Furious Flower Poetry Center at (540) 568-8883.

Final Performance: On the final day of camp, parents and family members are welcome to join us in the Memorial Hall Auditorium at 12:30pm for a grand finale and art show. If you would like to attend, please email Jessica Infanzon at infanzjt@jmu.edu by Wednesday July 24, 2019 with the number of people you plan to bring.

About Camp: As part of the camp, each child attends two types of workshops:  Elective and Block. Elective Workshops meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while the three Block Workshops meet every day (see below schedule). All art supplies, instruments, and other materials are provided. No particular experience or special skills are needed for any of these workshops.

Camp Schedule:

This is an integrated arts program with an emphasis on expression, inclusion, and fun. Each of our workshops is taught by a professional who is assisted by three camp counselors, which ensures a 1:4 ratio of adults to children (no more than 15 children per workshop). Children attend three workshops a day, and our goal is to inspire them to discover all they ways they can be creative with words: through writing, dance, music, art, and more. On Friday, the last day of camp, we celebrate with a grand finale performance and art show.

This year, thanks to the generous donation of the William King Foundation, we were pleased to offer this camp free of charge for the first 85 children to register. You can help us keep this camp free in the future by making a donation here:
