Author of nine books of poetry, including i want to undie you (Jacar Press 2017) and Feeding the Light (Jacar Press 2014), Jaki Shelton Green has spent the past 40 years teaching poetry and facilitating creative writing classes extensively at public libraries, universities and community colleges, public/private schools, and literary organizations; such as the NC Writer's Network, NC Poetry Society, and Blates College Multicultural Studies Program. As a community arts advocate, she creates and facilitates programs that serve diverse audiences and populations. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including the African-American Review, Obsidian, Callaloo, and The Cave Canem African American Writers Anthology. She has earned several awards and fellowships, including the 2016 Lenoir-Rhyne University Writer-in-Residence, 2016-2017 Ephesus School Poet in Residence, and was Duke University's 2016-2017 Teaching for Equity fellow. Currently, Green is the owner of SistaWRITE, which provides writing retreats and travel excursions for women writers based in North Carolina and Morocco, and also teaches documentary poetry at Duke University Center for Documentary Studies.
