Please consider joining a dynamic, innovative team of instructional faculty who are dedicated to enhancing academic culture at JMU.

Application materials are due by Monday, November 29 at 5 PM.

Applications are now being accepted for a CFI faculty associate in the Scholarship area in the Center for Faculty Innovation (CFI). The CFI is a community of faculty and educational developers collaborating to create opportunities for professional growth and innovation. Our vision is to cultivate inclusive communities of peers committed to helping each other succeed, advancing individual and organizational change.

CFI Faculty Associates are full-time, 10-month JMU instructional faculty who join a diverse and collaborative team for up to three academic years, contributing substantially to the creation, delivery, and evaluation of programs that support the development of JMU faculty. In addition to the specific qualifications detailed below, all applicants must be interested in university faculty development, well organized, and willing to work collaboratively on team-based initiatives. Learn more about the CFI Team.

The CFI is committed to working as a team of educational developers that represents diverse viewpoints, backgrounds, and experiences. We especially seek applicants committed to advancing inclusivity and equity in educational development programs and spaces pertaining to teaching, scholarship, and career planning.

Scholarship Area Faculty Associates

The CFI Scholarship Area encourages applications from faculty who have interest in and/or experience involving: research methods (including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods); building diverse and inclusive scholarly communities; scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) or engagement (SoE); undergraduate research; scholarly skill development; and/or consultations. The Scholarship Area offers inclusive, evidence-based enrichment opportunities that amplify scholarly productivity, skills, and diverse scholars and forms of scholarship on campus.  Scholarship programs and initiatives create a vibrant community of scholars engaged in mindful, scholarly pursuits, both individually and collectively. Ideal candidates will be accomplished and emerging practitioners whose scholarship experiences align with one or more of the areas indicated above.  Ideal candidates will be other-centered in their service orientation and will add value to a vibrant, diverse team.  Preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to writing program offerings (Scholarship Residency, faculty writing communities, etc…) and to multiple initiatives.  Read more about the Scholarship Area.

Positions will begin in spring 2022. Faculty Associates receive a course release (negotiated with the academic unit head) or a $3,600 stipend per semester for their contributions to the CFI. Appointment will be conditional on the availability of funds; in the event of a budget emergency, for example, in the context of the ongoing pandemic, faculty associate offers may have to be adjusted or rescinded.
