Learning is social—we learn from each other, even if the other is the author of a textbook. How can we make use of the social aspect of learning in our classes? This workshop explores team learning approaches that can be used in any course to develop teamworking skills, build community, increase student engagement, and increase opportunity for instructor feedback. This workshop will highlight a variety of approaches that you can use in your courses, right now. Particular consideration will be paid to how we can employ group learning in online contexts.

Facilitated by Andreas Broscheid, CFI and CAL.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these outcomes:

  • Using a range of group learning approaches in their classes; and
  • Identifying factors that influence pedagogical choices.

Our programs are intended for JMU faculty or staff only. If you are a student or administrator and would like to attend, please contact us at cfi@jmu.edu.

We want this program to be welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all of our participants. Please describe any considerations (e.g., disability, wellness, cultural, etc.) you want us to know about in the registration survey. You may also reach out to us personally at Tiffany Runion, runiontt@jmu.edu or (540)568-4858.
