Mindful Practices to Help Deepen Community-Based Projects (Online Scholarly Talk)

Community-based projects need more than good ideas and sharp minds; they need people equipped with tools of mindfulness and deep awareness to allow for empathy and deeper connection. This talk offers practices and resources for mindful community-based work.

Guest scholar:


Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Identifying a variety of methods and approaches to cultivate mindfulness;
  • Discovering concrete tools for enhancing community projects of any kind, including listening and reducing reactivity; and
  • Appreciating the role that an unexamined mind can play in disrupting our work, whether it be scholarly, pedagogical or community-based.

Faculty participants will make progress toward this scholarship outocme:

  • Practicing the integration of scholarship with teaching and other career aspirations.

CFI programs will be canceled automatically if JMU is closed for inclement weather.
