Virtual Get-Together for International Faculty (Online Roundtable)

Thu, 25 Mar 2021 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

This roundtable conversation invites international faculty at JMU to connect with each other and exchange thoughts about common experiences and questions. Faculty who grew up abroad are an important part of the JMU community, offering international connections and perspectives that are central to intellectual communities and education in today’s globalized world. Often, they encounter assumptions about who they are as well as presumptions about the way academia ought to work—in contrast to their own experiences. This session will help participants build connections and an agenda for (hopefully) further conversations. It is also open to those faculty who may not be officially counted as international faculty but have a strong international connection.

  • Felix Wang, Center for Global Engagement
  • Andreas Broscheid, CFI and College of Arts & Letters

Faculty participants will make progress toward:

  • Building a network of international faculty at JMU; and
  • Developing and fostering productive mentoring and networking relationships.

Our programs are intended for JMU faculty or staff only. If you are a student or administrator and would like to attend, please sign up and leave a note at the end of the survey.

CFI programs will be canceled automatically if JMU is closed for inclement weather.

We want this program to be welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all of our participants. Please describe any considerations (e.g., disability, wellness, cultural, etc.) you want us to know about in the registration survey. You may also reach out to us personally at Tiffany Runion, or (540)568-4846.
