Preparing tenure and promotion materials can seem like a lonely endeavor, especially so amid a pandemic. This virtual faculty community, with synchronous and asynchronous elements, will create a supportive space for tenure-track faculty members applying for promotion and tenure in fall 2021 or 2022, strive to make the tenure and promotion process clearer, and seek to identify and lessen sources of uncertainty in the tenure and promotion process.

Facilitator: Angela Webb, Ph.D., College of Education, MSME, and CFI

Faculty participants will make progress toward the program outcomes:

  • Developing their tenure and promotion dossier; and
  • Identifying sources of uncertainty in the tenure and promotion process and devising ways to reduce that uncertainty.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these career planning outcomes:

  • Applying best practices of performance documentation to career advancement; and
  • Developing and fostering productive mentoring and networking relationships.

CFI programs will be canceled automatically if JMU is closed for inclement weather.

Our programs are intended for JMU faculty or staff only. If you are a graduate student or administrator and would like to attend, please sign up and leave a note at the end of the survey.

We want this program to be welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all of our participants. Please describe any considerations (e.g., disability, wellness, cultural, etc.) you want us to know about in the registration survey. You may also reach out to us personally at Tiffany Runion, or (540)568-4846.
