Do you believe you have a responsibility to be a public voice for change in your field beyond academe? Would you like your Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) scholarship to reach a broader audience? Are you seeking the skills to communicate your ideas in non-academic spaces? This strategic communications workshop, led by Dr. Luke Capizzo, Assistant Professor of Public Relations, is intended to provide guidance on disseminating scholarly ideas in interviews with journalists and/or through channels such as Op-Eds, Letters to the editor, TEDx Talks, and podcasts. Dr. Capizzo will draw from his decade of experience in strategic communication outside of higher education, as well as his robust research agenda to support scholars who are interested in expanding their audience beyond the ivory tower. This workshop is designed for faculty at any stage of writing for a non-academic venue, but is ideal for those who have begun drafting or are ready to share their work. For planning purposes, please register for this workshop in advance.

Facilitated by: Luke Capizzo, PhD, Communications Studies, College of Arts & Letters
