Call for Applications: Life and Career Stories of Faculty of Color (Faculty Community)

Tue, 21 Jan 2020 12:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Fellows group will meet on Thursdays 1/23, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27, 3/5, 3/19, 4/2, and 4/16 from 2:00-3:30 PM in Rose Library.

This Madison Career Fellowship invites faculty of color and their allies to tell, share, read, and listen to their stories. Using auto-ethnographic exercises and other activities, the group intends to create a forum in which participants find and acknowledge their strengths, situate their personal and professional identities in the academy, identify the metaphorical soil in which they've been planted, and create community to celebrate their work.

Facilitator: Smita Mathur, PhD, Associate Professor of Early Elementary Education

Faculty participants will make progress toward:

  • (Re-)framing narratives of their professional and personal experiences as academics, and
  • Developing and fostering productive mentoring and networking relationships.

We want this program to be welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all of our participants. Please reach out to us at or (568-4846) with any considerations (e.g., disability, wellness, cultural, dietary, etc.) you want us to know about.
