POSTPONED: Meet the Mixed Methods (Workshop)

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM

Due to existing and forecasted inclement weather, the Meet the Mixed Methods workshop scheduled for Tue, Mar 13 has been postponed until Tue, Apr 3 from 8am-9:30am .  In the coming days we will post a new event information and registration link.

Greater than the sum of its qualitative parts, mixed methods inquiry has emerged as a legitimate research tradition recognized and valued by top-notch journals and respected national organizations (e.g., NSF). Meet the Mixed Methods will provide participants with an elemental introduction to the three core tenets of mixed methods research: weighting data, mixing methods, and timing design. Each of these will be explored in the context of two predominant design choices, emergent and fixed, with attention to taxonomies that guide the research process.  Note: This program was also offered during 2018 January Symposium.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Recognizing the value of mixed methods in addressing robust research questions,
  • Differentiating weighting, mixing, and timing choices that guide mixed methods research, and
  • Applying a fixed or emergent design to current (or envisioned) research.

Faculty participants will make progress toward advancing scholarly skills.

Facilitator: Dr. Cara Meixner, Ph.D., Graduate Psychology and Center for Faculty Innovation.
