Location:  Rose Library room 3313

Register Here

Write on Sites (formerly Scholarly Writers' Lockdowns) are offered on Tuesdays (12:30 PM-4:30 PM), and Fridays (8:30 AM-12:30 PM) throughout the semester. You may register for any of these sessions using the linked button above.

Need the space and time to advance or complete that writing project? Write on Site is an opportunity for faculty members who seek space and time to research and write during the academic year.  Join colleagues, who will be independently working, in a common space in Rose Library.  Leave with a sense of accomplishment and with increased scholarly productivity.

Note:  Coffee is available for purchase at Starbucks. A CFI consultant will not be present during Write on Site programs during the academic year. However, scholarship consultations are available on an ongoing basis and may be requested in advance by submitting a Scholarship Consultation request.  These requests need to be made a week in advance to ensure availability of a consultant during the Write on Site time frame.

Faculty participants will make progress toward enhancing scholarly productivity.

If you require non-dietary accommodations to participate in this program, please email the CFI at cfi@jmu.edu or call (568-4846) immediately to convey your needs.  We will work with the HR department to provide you with reasonable accommodations, if time permits.

March 13 : Meet the Mixed Methods (Workshop):

Location:  Student Success Center room 3311

Register Here

Greater than the sum of its qualitative parts, mixed methods inquiry has emerged as a legitimate research tradition recognized and valued by top-notch journals and respected national organizations (e.g., NSF). Meet the Mixed Methods will provide participants with an elemental introduction to the three core tenets of mixed methods research: weighting data, mixing methods, and timing design. Each of these will be explored in the context of two predominant design choices, emergent and fixed, with attention to taxonomies that guide the research process.  Note: This program was also offered during 2018 January Symposium.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Recognizing the value of mixed methods in addressing robust research questions,
  • Differentiating weighting, mixing, and timing choices that guide mixed methods research, and
  • Applying a fixed or emergent design to current (or envisioned) research.

Faculty participants will make progress toward advancing scholarly skills.

Facilitator: Dr. Cara Meixner, Ph.D., Graduate Psychology and Center for Faculty Innovation.

If you require non-dietary accommodations to participate in this program, please email the CFI at cfi@jmu.edu or call (568-4846) immediately to convey your needs.  We will work with the HR department to provide you with reasonable accommodations, if time permits.
