About CFI’s May Symposium. In an effort to support the ongoing development of JMU faculty as a teachers and scholars, the JMU Center for Faculty Innovation offers May Symposium Conference Day to faculty during the week after May Commencement. The annual May Symposium compiles a variety of roundtables, speakers, gatherings, and workshops on various topics such as learner-centered teaching, course design, and information literacy. Poster presentations are an added feature to this year’s Conference Day.  These presentations offer graphic representations of emerging theory, research, practice, models, concepts, programs or initiatives.  There will be an opportunity for short but engaging question and feedback exchanges with the presenter and interested members of the audience. This exciting collaborative effort provides full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and academic unit leaders with opportunities to focus on teaching, scholarship, career planning, service and/or leadership.
