Location:  Rose Library 5211

This two-day institute offers faculty from all disciplines time and resources to formulate scholarship of engagement questions and to learn best practices for working with community partners to impact learning, scholarly pursuits, and communities beyond JMU. Participants will be introduced to leading voices in engagement scholarship and will hear from JMU faculty and community partners currently engaged in community outreach. Over the two days, faculty will work in small and larger groups to formulate research questions, identify community partners, plan for IRB approval, and learn about scholarship of engagement resources on this campus.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:
  • Identifying resources for community engagement scholarship projects on this campus,
  • Gaining familiarity with key scholarship of engagement authors and themes, and
  • Preparing to apply for IRB approval for a community engagement project.

Facilitator:  Erin Robinson, Ph.D., Assistant Director, Office of Faculty Development, North Carolina State University
