Social Justice Networking Lunch

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

Location:  Student Success Center Room 4047

Ever wonder what the person in the office next door is doing for research? What about the person across campus? In this networking opportunity, faculty and graduate students will share their current research interests related to social justice to gain an appreciation of the diversity of scholarship in this area across campus.  Participants will have the opportunity to form collaborative relationships and brainstorm about future scholarship agendas in an intimate lunch setting. This event provides a platform to focus on the social justice issues that participants care most about, how they are currently incorporating these issues into their scholarship agenda, and for participants to engage one another in scholarly conversation. During the first half of the event, participants will share a two-minute summary of their research agenda, and then continue to share informally in more detail until the end of the lunch hour.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these scholarship outcomes:

  • Appreciating the diverse forms, purposes, and communication modes of scholarship in higher education, and
  • Forming collaborative scholarly projects with students, faculty, & staff at JMU and other institutions.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Learning about different research being conducted with a focus on social justice, and
  • Evaluating and discussing scholarly agendas.
