Professor Adolino received the B.A. in Politics from Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT in 1984 and the Ph.D. in Political Science from the Ohio State University in 1993. She has been at JMU since Fall 1994 and teaches Western European politics, comparative public policy and the senior seminar in International Affairs. Professor Adolino was responsible for the creation of JMU's European Union Policy Studies M.A. program and now teaches a public policy course in that program. She has twice participated in the JMU Semester in London program and has also taught in the General Education Summer in Scotland program. Her research interests primarily lie in the area of British politics, particularly concerning the participation of ethnic minorities in British political life. She has published a book in this area, titled Ethnic Minorities, Electoral Politics and Political Integration in Britain (Pinter 1998). With Professor Charles Blake, she has completed a textbook, now in its second edition, for Congressional Quarterly, comparing public policies of the advanced industrialized nations. Professor Adolino is an Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Letters and, in this capacity, has primary responsibility for the School of Public and International Affairs. She also directs the university’s Pre-Law advising program.
