I earned my Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Minnesota in the summer of 2017, and I am now joining the JMU Communication Studies department as the Assistant Director of Debate.  This year I will be teaching public speaking and coaching the JMU debate team at interscholastic competitions across the country.

I also maintain an active research program specializing in argument, critical theory, and presidential rhetoric.  I have a forthcoming piece this month in Argument and Advocacy that attempts to outline difficulties in training new debate students that draws largely on my experience working as a graduate assistant coach during my graduate education at the University of Minnesota.
