In this uncertain time, the College of Education offers these resources for faculty and pre-service teachers who may be teaching online for the first time.

Online Resources

JMU Libraries is offering support for online teaching. Please see their website for more details: https://www.lib.jmu.edu/temporary-online-teaching/

Contact Rabia Lieber for access to a Nearpod subscription. Once your account has been set up you can log-in using your JMU Microsoft credentials. See these instructions for how to integrate Nearpod into Canvas: https://nearpod.com/blog/nearpod-canvas-how-it-works/

Use Google Expeditions to set up a virtual tour for your students. You can add any location that Google has captured into one tour. Explain your collection of locations and make a list of questions for your students to answer. See this video for more instructions: https://youtu.be/9lLPtDs6wuU

You can also have students explore pre-made AR and VR experiences. See the comprehensive list here. Students will need access to the free Google Expeditions app for their mobile device.

BreakoutEDU has made a number of their Breakouts available for students to play at home. Visit here: https://www.breakoutedu.com/funathome. No login is necessary for these games.

If you need access to textbooks, create an account with VitalSource, the site that hosts the online text: https://bookshelf.vitalsource.com/#/user/registration. You can currently borrow textbooks through May 25, 2020.
