What is Project SPEED?

Offered by the JMU Educational Foundations and Exceptionalities Department (EFEX), Project SPEED provides online, graduate-level courses for special education teachers holding a valid conditional or provisional license in Virginia. These courses prepare participants for a ten-year renewable license with an endorsement in special education-general education. 

Who will benefit from Project SPEED
  • Provisionally licensed Special Education teachers working with students in the K-12 GeneralEducation Curriculum in the State of Virginia.
  • Students with Disabilities who are receiving support from provisionally licensed special education teachers.

  • Program can be completed in five semesters (consecutive)
  • Online coursework fits into your busy schedule
  • Curriculum approved by the Virginia Department of Education
