Eligibility Requirements

  • Through this Scholarship, funds will be provided annually to outstanding undergraduate students, including both students entering college for the first time and students already enrolled in college.
  • The appointment of a student as a Gregory W. Cross and Linda Weiss Cross Family Scholar shall follow the  University's  guidelines  for  the  awarding of  scholarships; provided  however, that  the  following specific conditions are noted:
    • The Donors' intention is to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students who are enrolled as full-time students.
    • The scholarship recipient is to be a resident of Virginia, with a grade point average of 3.1or higher based on a scale of 4.0 as a graduate of their high school. 
    • The Scholarship recipient must demonstrate financial need, as determined by the University's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
    • Each year scholarship funds will be provided to one outstanding student scholar, renewable for up to three additional academic years as long as the student maintains a grade point average of 3.1or higher based on a scale of 4.0. 
    • It is intended that the funds available in a given year be used to support students with significant financial need, up to the limit of their unmet need for annual tuition and fees. Any remaining unexpended funds will support additional students.   
  • To be considered for the Gregory W. Cross 1975, 1978 and Linda Weiss Cross 1977 Endowed Family Scholarship, an applicant must satisfy the specified conditions listed above. This scholarship specifies a “need component”.

This scholarship specifies a “need component”. To be eligible you MUST HAVE A CURRENT FAFSA on-file with the James Madison University Office of Financial Aid.
