Step 1: Open House

Visit us in the fall at one of two Open Houses hosted by JMU’s Office of Admissions:
Saturday, September 28, 2019 or Saturday, November 9, 2019.

The College of Business typically hosts three 45-minute College overview sessions at 9:00, 9:15, and 10:00 am, and major specific information sessions at 10:00 and 11:00 am, all in Showker Hall. Transfer student advising is also typically available from 10:00 to 11:30.

Step 2: Choices

If you have been offered admission to JMU, we encourage you to attend Choices, a special day-long program for admitted freshmen and their families. While the day’s schedule is flexible, we hope you’ll plan to attend the CoB events, which include a morning presentation in the Convocation Center and an afternoon meet-and-greet session with faculty and current students in Zane D. Showker Hall in the afternoon.

Step 3: Summer Springboard

Shortly before starting as a student with JMU, come get acquainted with life as a Duke. Students and families participate in a day filled with activities, including a presentation entitled “Your College Home.”  Later in the afternoon, students will meet in small groups with their First Year Advisor.  For those who are unable to attend Summer Springboard, the College Home presentation for the College of Business can be viewed here.

Differential Tuition

As a student in the CoB, you’ll pay “differential tuition,” an additional charge over JMU’s standard tuition fee - a practice that is common among top business schools and adds value to your overall academic experience. For example, these funds ensure that our students have access to state-of-the-art technology, such as the Capital Markets Lab, and to hands-on experiences such as career treks, professional networking opportunities and career development activities. You’ll gain a competitive edge for internships and job openings.
