Nora Crouch ('82)

(Retired) Chief Accounting Officer, Markel Corporation
Prior to her retirement, Nora N. Crouch served as chief accounting officer for Markel Corporation, a diverse financial holding company that markets and underwrites specialty insurance products on a global basis. As chief accounting officer, Crouch oversaw the global tax, SEC and statutory reporting, accounting policy, operational accounting and reporting and the controllership functions.
Crouch is a certified public accountant as well as a chartered property and casualty underwriter. Prior to joining Markel in 2000, Crouch held various roles in accounting and finance for publicly-held companies in the Richmond, Va., area after graduating with a B.B.A. in accounting from JMU (‘82).
Along with her husband Steve (JMU CoB ‘80), Crouch resides in Richmond, Va. where she serves on the board of directors of a number of non-profit organizations and where she spends time supporting grassroots activities promoting literacy, diversity, inclusion and equity within underserved communities.
Nora is Treasurer of the College of Business Board of Advisors.
